How to add steering wheel controls to your car. See below for where to purchase

In this video we are going to add some aftermarket steering wheel controls to the Nissan Cube. This can be done in a wide range of cars, even ones that already have controls available provided the headunit can support controls – see your headunit manual.

Wiring from the control box:
Red=12v accessories
Black=ground
Key1=red on 3.5mm plug
Key2=black/white on 3.5mm plug
You may need to swap key1 and key2 wires if it doesn’t work.

  1. Great job! I was looking for an option and found them on eBay for 14.99. Then found your video and thanks to you I'll definitely try it out. Thanks a lot m8!

  2. Thanks for the video. I was intrigued because I bought a set of those T3 controls primarily for an Eonon Chinese radio that has the 2 wires (not installed yet) but tried them on a Pioneer just to see if they would work. I think I tried them on an AVH 2700 BT and I also have AVH X390 BS and AVH 2300NEX not tried yet. I dont think it controlled anything on the 2700 and none of these stereos have this SWC set up screen that I can find. The Eonon does have it so I expect it to work well there. Can you shed any light on the model Pioneer you are using and maybe step by step how you found that SWC set up screen? So far I have successfully installed an ASWC 1 in a 2007 Forester and in the process of installing an RFASWC which is what led me to your video. I wish Pioneer would just make a wired controller similar to the BMW Idrive or Mazda type that could be stuck somewhere on the center console. Some people would prefer that to SWC especially in countries with a lot of corners. Thanks.

  3. I have been all over the internet for over a week, scratching my head all along just to find some info on this. So lucky that i found your tutorial. I recently bought an identical remote from AliExpress and clueless as to how to hook it up to my sony xav 5000 which also recieves swc inputs through 3.5 mm jack. If my understanding is correct, we don't have a ground to connect to jack, only key1 and key2. In what order did you connect them to jack? There are 3 coloured wires when i spliced the jack.

  4. I have the same head unit and I have the same controls. My controls don’t match up to the right buttons, they need to be remapped. For instance, my volume up ends up opening the camera. I see you clicked “steering wheel controls.” That option is nowhere to be found on my unit. It’s not in my settings. My manual confirms my unit supports it and it obviously does because I wired it up the same way you did and they work, just not the correct functions. I’m so confused. I wired it up correct thanks to you, but I don’t have that steering wheel control option in my settings despite having the same head unit. I can’t remap my Buttons. How did you get that setting?

  7. Do you have to set the keys in the SWC a number of times. That the issue I am having. The Android unit forgets the keys I set and then I haft set em again???

  8. Does this mean you can only control the volume from the steering wheel or can you control it from the radio as well?
