Cardmaking with Spellbinders July Large Die Of the Month - Bike Cards

hello crafters this is Janice Mikula and welcome back to my Channel today I'm creating with the Spellbinders july 2019 large die of the month which is a collapsible 3d bike die I also have a giveaway for you at the end of this video to thank you for being my loyal followers and viewers in my previous video I have already shared one idea using a part of this die which is a wheel and I showed you how to make a fun background using just that die for this video I have two ideas both showing how to use this bike in a flat version on a card I will show you how to use it on a standard a2 card and also how to make a tandem bike for a long skinny project both cards combine die-cutting with layered stamping to decorate the bikes with some pretty stamped flowers from wplus9 let's get to it right now you see me stamping florals and leaves in various colors of ink onto the matching die-cuts I've already pre-planned the design and die-cut the shapes for the flowers using coordinating dies the CM said and I said that I'm using today is fresh-cut florals from wplus9 the coordinating dies in this set are solid so in order to to line up the steamed images you need to tack out the shapes out first and do your stamping later I'm using a mix of ink colors from my stash some are from wplus9 and some are from hero arts I love the CM said with the delicate flowers and leaves it's very dainty and it's like nothing else I have in my stash I think it's a very timeless set and it goes well really well with a lot of things it can be stamped on its own and I do have many other projects on my blog and on my youtube channel featuring this set and it can also be used to adorn other objects like this bike for example speaking of the bike to die cut it I used light blue black and white cardstock the colors are pool party from fence jumpers journey black from Simon Says Stamp and Neenah solar white a hundred and ten pound cardstock the assembly of the bike is rather easy I'm not going to bore you with the details I just used glue and adhered the die-cuts as shown adding a light blue shadow layer to the base of the bike now this bike comes with a basket that can be placed on the back of the bike but it can also be trimmed down and used as a little basket on the front of the bicycle to hold flowers or maybe groceries or a little deck addictive you're making a birthday card to create a sentiment for this card I used this month glimmer hot foil kit which is the set of fun sentiments and coordinating dies to cut the sentiments out I foiled yay it's your birthday in light blue foil I have exact names and links to all of the products that I'm using today listed below in my video description if you're looking to shop any of these for yourself I used foam adhesive to pop the bike up on the card this edit a little bit of bulk but it also added that lovely dimension that just brings cards to life having also phone mounted the basket I decided I wanted to add some ink blending I should have done it before attaching it but it was an afterthought so I used a mini ink blending tool from fun stampers journey and I gotta tell you these are very convenient to ink blend small sections on the cards and I just lightly ink blended the edges of the basket to darken them up a little bit I ended up removing the basket to do proper blending and once that was done I read heared it on the card next was the most fun part if you ask me I got to create the floral arrangement and decorate the basket with my stamped die-cuts the bike dye does come with some leaves and flower die-cuts and you can most certainly use those for your cards but I like to mix and match my supplies so I pulled those pretty stems from my stash it's been awhile since I used them and I really wanted to use stamped flowers here again I used glue and foam adhesive to adhere everything in place and I also shaped some of the elements to give them that curl and dimension next I wanted to add a stamp sentiment so I stamped it in black ink and it reads let's celebrate it comes from Simon's tiny words esteem set I also stamped some dots in purple next to the floral arrangement making it visually fuller lastly I used glossy accents encoded several bye cards with it to make them dimensional and shiny I love using glossy accents to add some finishing touches to my cards I didn't show this on video but I added more flowers next to the sentiment and some drops and morning dew to decorate the card I've always wanted to have a tandem bike die in my stash tandems fascinate me for some reason I don't know why and while the die that I'm using today is not necessarily designed to make a tandem bike this doesn't mean I can't tweak it for that now I used the same colors of cardstock as before and I die cut twice as many pieces for the key bike elements I did look up tandem bikes online as this helped me construct my bike and decide where I need to add the second seed the handles and just how to connect the two bike basis together it wasn't perfect but for someone who has no idea how this die was intended to be intended to be used you know it's not going to matter as this bike ends up looking pretty darn nice in the end just a reminder the bike die is the Spellbinders july 2019 large die of the month it's a subscription program and this diet is available on the Spellbinders website only this subscription is just $25 per month us shipping is included in the cost and if you want to get both small and large die of the month you can join the die hard Club which is only $30 again shipping is included now let's talk giveaway I have two giveaways both include three spa binders die delights die sets you can see them on the screen right now these are from their latest die delights release to enter the giveaway please head over to my blog there's a link in the video description below subscribe to my blog newsletter you can find a forum in that blog post and comment on the blog letting me know if you're a subscriber to the Spellbinders club I'd love to know I'll pick winners over the weekend on July 20th or 21st 28:19 and I will email you if you won the away is open internationally if you win the dies will be mailed from Ukraine which is where I am at the moment now back to the card to finish it I added the usual pieces all usual pieces I did some more fussy cutting to cut the unnecessary parts off to make it look like a one seamless piece this time I added baskets to both front and back of the bike I used craft paper and I also Inc blended the edges slightly to darken them up although gotta tell you it's hardly noticeable in the finished card and of course I added the flowers made using the same fresh-cut floral stamp set from wplus9 a sentiment made with a Spellbinders July glimmer hot oil kit and stamp sentiments using Simon's tiny words stamp set here is a quick look at both cards once finished the partial by card and the tandem bike card all made using the same 3d collapsible bicycle die from Spellbinders I hope you enjoyed this video and you'll give it a try if you do share online and tag me I love seeing what you guys are making if 1. Oh my, you are 'killing me' with your creativity, Yana! I find it soooo difficult to watch any SB Die Kits of the Month videos, even though I absolutely love, love, love their products (have many of their die sets purchased through other suppliers) and have so for a few years. You see, because I am international, by the time the item gets to me it costs at least twice as much more or beyond, because of shipping and customs fees. Anyway, maybe some day things will change. In the meantime, have yourself a wonderful day!

  2. Love these cards Yana! You always have such creative ways to use and combine products.
Do you have any information about when Spellbinders is going to make international shipping to Europe more reasonable for their kits? I am so sad that I can’t sign up for their kits because the price of shipping is double the price of the kits 🙁
